Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 647, the month of October is declared as National Statistics Month (NSM). This celebration is in its 29th year since the signing of the proclamation in 1990. Its objective is to promote, enhance, and instill awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of statistics to the different sectors of the society and to elicit the cooperation and support of the general public in upgrading the quality and standards of statistics in the country. With this year’s them: “Exploring Philippine Wonders in Numbers: Statistics Towards Sustainable Tourism Development”, Undersecretary and National Statistician and Civil Registrar General Lisa Grace S. Bersales, stated that even while the tourism sector is already gearing towards sustained tourism growth through advance digital technology, we must still bear in mind the environmental pillar of sustainability, in addition to the economic and social pillars. In observance of this year’s National Statistics Month, PSA Bohol will be having a cross learning tour and on the 30th of this month a short program will be held at the PSA provincial office to cap the month long celebration with staff from the Bohol Tourism Office and the Department of Tourism as guest.
