The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) successfully conducted an LGU orientation focused on the 2024 Census of Population (POPCEN) and Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) Barangay Profile Questionnaire (BPQ) Data Collection at the Evacuation Center in Poblacion Norte, Maria, Siquijor on 13 May 2024. This one (1) day activity aimed to equip barangay secretaries with essential skills and knowledge for effective data collection and service facilities and government projects listing in every barangay.
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) successfully conducted an LGU orientation focused on the 2024 Census of Population (POPCEN) and Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) Barangay Profile Questionnaire (BPQ) Data Collection at the Evacuation Center in Poblacion Norte, Maria, Siquijor on 13 May 2024. This one (1) day activity aimed to equip barangay secretaries with essential skills and knowledge for effective data collection and service facilities and government projects listing in every barangay.
Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator (MPDC) Jake Maglahus also graced the activity emphasizing the sig-nificance of the CBMS and the census in local development planning. In his welcome address, MPDC Maglahus said, “The data we collect through this initiative will be instrumental in shaping our local policies and programs.”
The 2024 POPCEN and CBMS are expected to provide critical data that will enhance local governance and service delivery in Maria. The collected data will help in taking a comprehensive inventory of the total population, identifying beneficiaries for social protection programs, analyzing poverty levels to better understand community needs, and assisting in disaster preparedness planning and infrastructure. This initiative will not only improve the accuracy of the census data but also ensure that the community's needs are met more effectively.
