A. Vital Statistics
In 2023, Bohol recorded a total of 17,937 registered births by place of occurrence. Meanwhile, based on the usual residence of the mother, Bohol had a total of 18,085 registered live births.
Male births outnumbered female births
By place of occurrence, more males (9,163 or 51.1 percent) were born than females (8,774 or 48.9 percent) resulting to a sex ratio of 104 males per 100 females. The same trend was observed by the usual residence of the mother, where males also had a higher number of registered live births at 9,199, and females at 8,826 resulting to the same sex ratio of 104 males per 100 females. (Figure 1)

Among the city and municipalities in Bohol, Ubay recorded the highest registered male births in terms of the usual residence of mother at 710, followed by Tagbilaran City with 624, and Talibon with 556. A similar trend was observed in female births with Ubay and Tagbilaran City reporting the highest record at 659, followed by Talibon with 528 recorded female births. In contrast, Sikatuna reported to have the lowest number of male and female births based on the mother's usual residence in 2023. (Table 1)

Based on the mother's usual residence, the highest number of male births was recorded in September with 865 occurrences, while female births peaked in January, reaching 840 registered births.
Conversely, the lowest number of male and female births were both recorded in June, with only 649 and 626 occurrences, respectively. (Figure 2)

Bohol's marriage statistics for 2023 indicate that most grooms married between the ages of 25 and 29, with 2,397 registrations, accounting for 37.04 percent of total registered marriages.
A similar trend was observed among brides, with the majority also marrying within this age group. This accounted for 2,640 marriages, representing 40.79 percent of total marriage registrations, as illustrated in Figure 3.
Table 2 presents a breakdown of registered marriages by sex, age group, and place of occurrence. Notably, Tagbilaran City recorded the highest number of marriages in Bohol, with 753 registrations, followed by Ubay with 364, and Dauis with 312. In contrast, Sikatuna recorded the fewest marriages, with only 28 registered in the same year.

Figure 4 presents a funnel chart, illustrating fewer deaths at younger ages, except for infants under one year old, with numbers gradually increasing as age advances. Male deaths comprised a larger share in 2023, with 5,523 registered deaths (55.67 percent), compared to 4,580 female deaths (45.33 percent) of Bohol's total death registrations.
Among males, the highest proportion of deaths occurred between the ages of 75 and 79, accounting for 12.00 percent of total male deaths. In contrast, among females, the highest proportion was recorded in the oldest age group, 85 years and older, totaling 1,110 deaths or 24.24 percent of total female deaths.

B. Agricultural Population
Based on the 2022 Census of Agriculture and Fisheries (CAF), a total of 817,716 individuals aged 18 years old and over were part of the agricultural population or members of household with at least one agricultural operator from 01 January to 31 December 2022. Out of the total agricultural population in Bohol, 416,202 or 50.9 percent are males while 401,514 or 49.1 percent are females.
Among the male agricultural population, 123,191 (29.6 percent) held secure rights over agricultural land. In contrast, only 68,676 (17.1 percent) of the female agricultural population had ownership or secure rights. This reveals a notable gender disparity, with women being 12.5 percentage points less likely than men to own or have secure rights to agricultural land (Table 3).
Table 3. Agricultural Population 18 Years Old and Over with Ownership or Secure Rights Over Agricultural Land by Sex: Bohol, 2022

In terms of agricultural population with full ownership of agricultural land, 81,236 individuals were reported in Bohol, of whom 50,391 (62.0 percent) were males, and 30,845 (38.0 percent) were females.
Meanwhile, Bohol had a total of 90,727 individuals with owner-like possession of agricultural land, including 57,645 (63.5 percent) males, and 33,082 females (36.5 percent). (Table 4)
This still highlights a gender gap, as women's share among agricultural landowners and those with secure rights in the province is only at least one-third for both fully owned lands and those under owner-like possession.
