The Philippine Statistics Authority will be conducting the 2019 Annual Poverty Indicators Survey (APIS) starting July 8, 2019. It is a rider to the quarterly Labor Force Survey (LFS) for July 2019. The APIS will provide non-income poverty indicators that can be used for assessment of the Filipino family’s living conditions.  It is also used as inputs to the Multi-dimensional Poverty Index. It generates information on the demographic characteristics, education, economic characteristics, housing characteristics, access to safe water supply and sanitation, expenditure and income of the families, and other information that can be used to assess and monitor the poverty situation in the country. The report aims to provide statistics to the planners and policy makers as inputs to planning, assessment and evaluation of the various programs designed to reduce poverty incidence in the country. Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) will be implemented for both the LFS and APIS. Rider questions on the awareness of the Philippine Competition Commission (PPC) and the Philippine Competition Act was also added in this round of LFS. These are to be asked to the respondent only.

The PSA is asking support and cooperation from the sample households to accommodate the Field Interviewers or Statistical Researchers who will visit their home to conduct interview. The NGAs and LGUs especially the Barangay officials are encouraged to extend assistance and support for the success of this very important undertaking.

The PSA, as the primary statistical arm of the government is mandated by Republic Act 10625 to conduct such important survey and assure the public that all information gathered will be kept strictly confidential and will not be used for purposes of taxation, investigation or regulation as provided for under Section 26 of R.A. 10625. The information collected will be used for statistical purposes as basis for government planners and decision-makers.
