The total duck production of Central Visayas from January to March 2021 was estimated at 69.0 metric tons, liveweight. This was 0.8 percent higher than the previous year’s same quarter production of 68.00 metric tons. (Fig. 1 & Fig. 2 and Table 1)
Among all regions, Central Luzon was the top producer of duck for meat during the quarter with 2.56 thousand metric tons, liveweight. This was followed by SOCCSKSARGEN and Western Visayas with corresponding productions of 1.12 thousand metric tons, liveweight, and 0.79 thousand metric tons, liveweight. These three regions accounted for 55.9 percent of the country’s total duck production. (Figure 1 and Table 1)
In terms of total production, Central Luzon accounted the highest percent share of 32.0 while Central Visayas’ percent share was reported at 0.9 percent to the country’s total duck production. (Fig.3 and Table 1)
As of 01 January 2021, Central Visayas’ total duck inventory was estimated at 192,768 birds which was higher by 5.0 percent from the 183,546 birds in the same period of 2020. (Figure 4 and Table 2)

TECHNICAL NOTES
This Duck Situation Report presents the duck industry in terms of volume of production and inventory by farm type. The report is prepared to serve as a ready reference for PSA’s various clients and stakeholders in the agriculture sector. Itis released quarterly; that is, every February, May, August, and November.
Concepts and Definitions
Volume of production refers to the volume of locally-raised animals disposed for dressing including those which were shipped out to other regions/provinces for dressing. This is expressed in thousand metric tons, liveweight.
Inventory refers to the actual number of duck present in the farm as of the specific reference date. For this report, the inventory of duck is as of 01 January 2021 since the surveys for this commodity are conducted semi-annually, i.e., January and July.
