The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Regional Statistical Services Office VII (RSSO) opens the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) Fixed Registration Center (FRC) for the province of Cebu on 21 March 2022 at 3rd floor Gaisano Capital South Bldg. Colon St., Cebu City. The Opening Ceremony was participated by the key officials and staff from PSA Regional and Cebu Provincial Statistical Offices. Business hours of the FRC is from Monday to Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The Philippine Identification System took a historical milestone in the Philippine history as we transcend into the digital world brought by the technological development across the globe. In 2020, Republic Act 11055 also known as the Philippine Identification System Act was implemented in Central Visayas. It aims to provide every Filipino a single valid proof of identity as a means of simplifying public and private transactions. PSA as implementing agency of this act will provide an inclusive identification system to its clients in line with its vision, mission, and quality policy.
In relation to this, PSA 7 headed by Engr. Ariel E. Florendo took another step in serving its clients through the PhilSys FRC.
On behalf of the Regional Director of PSA 7, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of the Civil Registration and Administrative Support Division, Edwina M. Carriaga formally opened the start of the FRC for Cebu province.
She thanked PSA key officials and staff
especially Chief Statistical Specialist (CSS) Leopoldo P. Alfanta Jr., Supervising Statistical Specialist (SuSS) Felixberto M. Sato Jr., Cebu Provincial Statistical Office Supervising Statistical Specialist (SuSS), Juanilla R. Premne, and the rest of the PhilSys team of Cebu Provincial Office and RSSO VII Staff for the efforts during the preparation of the registration center. PSA also expressed its gratitude to Gaisano Capital South Management thru its Branch Manager Ms. Jessica Cristy Saramosing for accommodating the PhilSys FRC in Gaisano South Mall- Colon. Everyone is encouraged to promote and disseminate the information that the FRC for Cebu province is now operational and can cater clients for the capturing of demographic and biometric information.
The opening the PhilSys FRC paved the way in the achievement of PSA’s goal to provide an inclusive identification system that is available and accessible for all.
As expressed by a registrant, “It is fulfilling to be able to register in the National ID as this is one of the historic milestone of our country.”
