The total goat production of Central Visayas from July to September 2022 was estimated at 2.49 thousand metric tons, liveweight. This was 13.6 percent higher than the previous year’s same quarter production of 2.19 thousand metric tons, liveweight. (Figure 1 and Table 1)

Among all regions, Central Visayas was the top producer of goat during the quarter followed by Ilocos Region with 2.27 thousand metric tons, liveweight and Northern Mindanao with 1.98 thousand metric tons, liveweight. Meanwhile, Eastern Visayas accounted with the lowest goat production at 0.10 thousand metric tons, liveweight. (Figure 1 and Table 1)

 

In terms of production, the region’s percent share was the biggest among all regions at 14.0 percent to the country’s total goat production. Among the major producing regions were Ilocos Region, Northern Mindanao, and BARMM with 12.8 percent share, 11.2 percent share and 10.3 percent share, respectively. These regions including Central Visayas constituted 48.3 percent share of the country’s total goat production. (Figure 3 and Table 1)

On other hand, the bottom four regions were Cagayan Valley, CAR, Caraga and Eastern Visayas with 1.9 percent share, 1.3 percent share, 0.7 percent share and 0.6 percent share, respectively. (Figure 3 and Table 1)

 

Relative to their levels in the same quarter of 2021, nine regions posted reductions in their output during the quarter. In terms of level, Ilocos Region registered the highest decline of 0.24 thousand metric tons, liveweight from 2.51 thousand metric tons, liveweight in the same quarter of the previous year to 2.27 thousand metric tons, liveweight this third quarter of 2021. (Table 1)

 

As of 30 September 2022, Central Visayas total goat inventory was estimated at 592,884 heads. The region contributed highest inventory accounted 15.1 percent share of the country’s total goat inventory. This was followed by Western Visayas, and Ilocos Region with respective shares of 12.6 percent, and 10.7 percent. These three regions comprised 38.4 percent share of the country’s total goat population. (Figure 4 and Table 2)
