To strengthen the conduct of the first step of the registration process in the Province of Siquijor amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) - Siquijor Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) went on-air through the radio program “Kalambuan sa Probinsya sa Siquijor” which was hosted by Martin Saludar or “Tito Butch” at 105.7 Radyo Bisdak, a local radio station in the province, on 23 March 2021.
Chief Statistical Specialist (CSS) Aurelia M. Canda informed the public that the Step 1 Registration had started on 18 January 2021 wherein the demographic information from a registrant is gathered through house to house. The demographic data that includes the full name, sex, date of birth, blood type permanent and present address, marital status (optional), mobile number (optional) and email address (optional) from target registrants are taken through the hired data collectors using the tablet.
Statistical Specialist II Jill Bernadette C. Abing also added that PSA targeted to collect demographic data to more than 18,900 Siquijodnons and resident aliens prioritizing mountainous barangays with no Internet access as identified by PSA.
SS II Abing further emphasized that the Step 2 Registration process will start tentatively in May 2021. Only those pre-registered Siquijodnons during Step 1 process with ages five (5) years old and over are qualified to proceed to Step 2 Registration process. Biometric information is collected in this process, particularly full set of fingerprints, iris scan and a front-facing photograph at the designated Fixed Registration Centers (FRCs).
