This session aims to raise awareness of the importance and implications of personal information in today’s digital landscape. With the increasing collection, use, and sharing of personal data, understanding data privacy has become essential. A key focus will be on the Data Privacy Act of 2012, which protects the fundamental human right to privacy in personal communications and interactions. This law not only safeguards individuals’ personal data from unauthorized access or misuse but also ensures that information can flow freely to foster innovation and economic growth.

 

We will explore what constitutes personal information, why it matters, and the responsibilities organizations and individuals have in safeguarding data. The discussion will cover the rights individuals hold under the Data Privacy Act, including the right to be informed, to access, to correct, and to object to the processing of their personal data. By the end of the session, participants will gain insights into practical steps they can take to protect their data privacy and make informed choices about how their information is shared and used, ultimately fostering a safer and more privacy-conscious environment.

National ID: For Inclusive Digital Transformation

 

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has been tasked to implement the National ID System, as provided by RA 11055 or the Philippine Identification Systems Act (PhilSys Act). 

 

The National ID system has two simple functions: Provide a unique ID number to Filipinos and Resident Aliens and serve as a platform for identity verification.

 

The National ID is more than just registering the public; it represents a significant step towards

enhancing the lives of Filipinos and propelling Digital Transformation by facilitating access to essential services bridging gaps in identity verification.

 

Ultimately, the National ID is a foundational element in building a more inclusive and efficient society, where every Filipino can fully participate in the economy and access vital services.
