September 2022 Summary Inflation Report - Consumer Price Index of Negros Oriental

1. Philippines

The country’s inflation rate has increased from 6.3 percent in August 2022 to 6.9 percent in September 2022. In September of the previous year, inflation was lower at 4.2 percent. (Table 1)

2. Central Visayas Region

The inflation rate in Central Visayas has increased to 8.1 percent in September 2022 from 7.4 percent in August 2022. In September 2021, inflation in the region was at 2.2 percent. (Table 1)

3. Negros Oriental

The province’s inflation rate has increased from 6.7 percent on August 2022 to 6.8 percent in September 2022. In September of the previous year, inflation was lower at 4.0 percent. (Figure 1)

The following commodity groups contributed to the upward trend of the inflation during the month of September compared to the previous month:

       a. Transport, 12.1 percent from 11.7 percent;

      b. Furnishings, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance, 4.6 percent from            4.2 percent;

       c. Health, 4.4 percent from 3.2 percent;

       d. Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco, 4.3 percent from 3.0 percent;

       e. Restaurants and Accommodation Services, 4.1 percent from 2.1 percent;

        f. Recreation, Sport and Culture, 2.7 percent from 1.7 percent;

        g. Education Services, 2.2 percent from 0.0 percent;

        h. Clothing and Footwear, 1.8 percent from 0.5 percent;

        i. Personal Care, and Miscellaneous Goods and Services, 1.4 percent from 0.9 percent; and

        j .Information and Communication, 0.9 percent from 0.5 percent.

On the contrary, inflation rate was lower for Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages at 9.9 percent from 10.2 percent and Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels at 4.1 percent from 4.6 percent. (Figure 3)

One commodity group retained its previous month’s inflation rate and it was Financial Services at 0.0 percent. (Figure 4)
